History

BikeSport’s goal is to help each bicycle rider enjoy cycling as much as possible, no matter the level or type of rider. We do this by understanding the customer’s needs, offering the highest level customer service and using our expertise to match sales and service to the goals of the rider.

BikeSport has been in business since September, 2013. BikeSport purchased On Performance Cycling Center and expanded the business to a full service/assortment bike shop. We relocated the shop to 3970 Tampa Road in Oldsmar, across the street from the original location, but besides Oldsmar, are accessible and serving Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, and W. Tampa. We are proud to be a Giant Bicycle Dealer. We service all types and brands of bikes.

So, in a nutshell — about BikeSport:
We sell and service bikes for every kind of rider…
Our goals are simple: A happy customer and happy bicycle!

David McEnery

Proud Owner

David’s passion for cycling goes beyond two wheels. Read more..

Two wheels has always been my passion, first starting in 1996 with motorcycles. After a 10-year motorcycle road racing career with multiple wins, championships and a lap record, it was time to hang up the leathers.

In 2008, I met a group of cyclists and was convinced to come watch a training Criterium in Tampa. This one event led to a prompt return to competitive racing on two wheels once again. Only this time I was the motor.

Spending life as the “chubby kid” growing up, cycling quickly changed my entire lifestyle. I lost nearly 100 pounds and found a completely new fitness level. Racing with the Masters FL Velo team I saw multiple podiums and a second place in the Florida State Time Trial.

Professionally, work was always just a job until finding my place at a bike shop. Talking to and introducing people to the world of cycling wasn’t work but just fun. This led to the eventual purchase of Bikesport and a newfound satisfaction in my career. As they say, if you do what you love then you never work a day in your life. There has definitely never been a more true statement made! I absolutely love the bike industry and sharing that passion with others.

Together with my better half, Katie Corbin, I now bring that passion and love of cycling to the Oldsmar and Greater Tampa Bay area with my new family at Bikesport!

Katie is our resident triathlete and all around bad ass! Read more..

Born in England, her family emigrated to the USA landing her in the swamps of Gainesville, FL. Katie’s first love was swimming and she carried that passion through college earning her spot on the Florida State University Swimming and Diving Team and eventually leading the Lady Noles as Team Captain.

Post college Katie picked up the sport of running and was eventually convinced to buy a bike and do her first triathlon. It was clear from that first race that she was going to go far in the sport as she was instantly bit by the bug.

Katie started winning races locally and eventually tried her hand at long distance racing. In 2013 she finished 13th at IRONMAN Florida, followed by a 4th place finish at IRONMAN Boulder in 2016 earning a qualifying slot to the IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Kona, HI.

Talented at all distances Katie has qualified for three 70.3 World Championship and competed in two; 2017 Chattanooga 70.3 and 2019 Nice 70.3.

You don’t have to look far to see Katie’s wide array of accomplishments including Boston Marathon, Gasparilla Marathon, Charlevoix Marathon, St. Pete Classic to name a few.

Katie is building a name for herself in the cycling community and she is a passionate about Time-Trial series, Grand Fondo’s and learning to race Criteriums.

Her best and most proud accomplishments is being Mum to Abby and Jack. Katie is the better half to BikeSport Owner Dave McEnery making them a Dynamic Duo!

Will always had a special spot in his heart for bike! Read more..

My journey in the bike shop industry spans over 15 years, but it all began with the Christmas gift of my first bike at the age of 10. That moment marked my first taste of freedom, as I flew through the neighborhood, conquering curbs and racing to my friend’s place.

My career kicked off as the BMX manager at Fullerton Bicycles in California. Initially a sponsored BMX rider, I soon delved into the world of mountain biking and found myself hooked. Swiftly transitioning to cross country races, my thirst for adventure led me to Downhill and Enduro competitions. Adding a road bike to my collection for training sealed the deal, and the rest is history!

Riding has always been therapeutic for me. It’s just you, the bike, and your thoughts – a carefree escape. Whether pushing limits on a group ride or embarking on a solo 50-mile journey, the feeling is incomparable.

I’m eager to discuss all things bikes with you and ignite your passion for riding in the days ahead!

Learn about John’s transition to the bike world! Read more..

I’ve spent the majority of my life working in the automotive, and manufacturing fields. I decided I needed a change. I started working for a local bike shop. I lived nearby so I started riding a bike to work. Many years later I continue to ride any chance I can. There is something about a bike ride that is relaxing and soothing. I hope to ride for many more years.

I am a transplant from NJ via MN and have lived in Florida since 2017. I’m a father to three girls, and I stay as active as possible. I retired from law enforcement in 2014 in NJ. Throughout my career, I was assigned at different times to the bike unit. I’ve always enjoyed riding bikes and worked at a local shop in NJ for about four years.
